Halo Card

A bright, card-first identity for a cash and credit card for creators and freelancers, turning a messy freelance month into something that finally looks like a business.

Year

2025

Scope

Identity · Card design · App · Welcome pack

The idea

The idea

Freelancers get paid late, in lumps, from six places at once, and most banking looks designed for someone with a salary. Halo wanted a card people would happily put on a desk in a photo. So we designed the card first and let the brand grow out from it, the way a ring of light sits around whatever it belongs to.

The work

The work

A matte white card with a single ring in fluorescent orange, offset to the top right so it catches the eye when the card is half out of a wallet. The wordmark is a rounded grotesque, set tight. We carried the ring into the app as the balance indicator, into the welcome pack, and onto stickers creators asked for before we had planned them.

What happened

What happened

The card started turning up in desk photos within the first month, unprompted, and nobody questioned the card-first decision again. Sign-ups came mostly from illustrators and video editors, then spread. Imogen has since commissioned a second card, in black, because people kept asking.

“We wanted a card people would be proud to be seen with, and Elise made that feel easy.”
